Since AP Physics C: Mechanics is a calculus-based science course, you need to have a strong mathematical background. Also, it is recommended to attend the course if you are familiar with other AP Physics courses before doing mechanics since it is considered more challenging. In 2024, the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam will be on May 14. The testing time will be 90 minutes, and the schedule will be as following: 45-minute multiple choice section (35 single-select), 45-minute free response section (3 free-response questions, 1 of them will be experimental or lab-based). All science courses are definetely considered as more challenging than other subjects; however, they are also very rewarding. If you are a high-schooler that plans to study STEM-related subjects, especially engineering, in college, we think you should take AP Physics C: Mechanics since it really helps to lay groundwork for all the challenging content you will face in the future. On the other hand, if your planned college major is not engineering-related, we think you can skip AP Physics C: Mechanics if you are worried about your grades, as AP Physics C: Mechanics tests are quite difficult. Nevertheless, no matter your major, it is important to pursue your interests and passion. If you are passionate about engineering, you should definitely take this course!
